you may be kidding about that- but I am very afraid that we will have to do that- and will not know how.

Maybe not in the 'survivalist mode' but definitely in the 'Great Depression' mode

Obama gets the nomination

Well, I really do think we should have gardens. I think the Victory Garden model is a good one, for lots of reasons.

I have some home if McCain becomes POTUS. I have no hope if Obama, the Messiah get it. How the hell is anyone qualified to be POTUS with 145 days in Congress. That's it. Just 145 days. I'm baffled. But then, he is hopey and changey.

Re: Obama gets the nomination

Hey guys...I know, I don't venture out of the RV too often, but I had to share this story with you. I was talking to my sister the other day. I don't know how the topic came up because I make it a point to NEVER talk about politics (especially with her) but she started raving about Obama. He's going to change the world! He's a WORLD LEADER! Just what we need in a time of despair! Life will be wonderful for us all! Change! Hope! Freaking gold paved streets! Seriously, it was scary. She sounded brainwashed! Really! I could envision the little twirly stars floating around inside her eyeballs! I had to answer back, this time. I told her everything I thought about Mr. Obama and she freaked! I'm a horrible person! How could I think this way! Evil! I tried to bring up the speech in Berlin and how I couldn't even figure out what the heck he was TALKING about and she interrupted me with more comments about how I've gotten it all wrong. Didn't I listen to him? He will change everything for the good and I (and all those losers who think like me) am going to ruin it for everyone! Of course, I had to take it one step further and call him the antichrist. I sort of lost credibility with that one, but, I couldn't help myself. She just wouldn't shut up.

Seriously, though. It IS scary the way he's being portrayed as the chosen one. Makes me want to head for the hills.

I understand that everyone wants us to leave Iraq...but what isn't being said out loud is that while he wants to leave Iraq, he then wants to shift our troops to Afghanistan.

He isn't anti-war at all...he's just all for a different war.

I really have to start listening to left wing radio, because the way he's talked about on conservative talk...I really don't understand why anyone would want him.

People are O.K. with sending more troops to Afghanistan. I haven't met any anti-Afghan war people. Iraq is a whole other ball of wax.

Obviously I'd like us to leave Iraq. I didn't care for explosives being lobbed in Mr. D's direction 24/7. I don't think we should have been there in the first place.

BUT, we are there and we can't take it back. We have to stay until they can realistically govern themselves.

I haven't made up my mind yet who I'm voting for. There are so many positives and negatives for both...

That's the point with Iraq, Mrs. D., we can't just leave. Was anyone paying attention to what happened when we just pulled out of Vietnam? Take a peekey boo over into Cambodia.

Mrs. D., LOTS of people are anti-Afghan war. Crazy anti. But then those are the very same nutballs who think we didn't try hard enough to negotiate with Hitler. We just weren't understanding enough. Accomodating enough. Raped and slaughtered enough. Something, I don't know. They say that war is never the answer. Truth is that it's the last answer, but it's a valid one when it comes to it. Wait too long and you've lost everything. We almost waited too long with the Fuerer and Hirohito. How do you negotiate with people who perpetrate things like Auschwitz, the Rape of Nanking and 9/11? They don't want to negotiate, they want to dominate.

I can't vote for Captain Vacuous. I just can't. But I've been told often enough that I'm a total evil racist because I won't vote for him. Okay. Whatever you want. Still, what ever name you call me, I ain't votin for him.

Okay...after this, I promise to never talk politics again. I just have to say that I can't vote for him, either, and I, too, have been called an evil racist for feeling this way. Um...yeah...it has NOTHING to do with race but they won't hear it. My sister uses this on me when she can't think of anything else to say. She gets frustrated and calls me a racist.

I find it so thought provoking and revealing when the only reason people can come up with if you disagree with them is that you are a racist.

Not much upstairs there- If I do not like someone, I have REAL reasons- and they have nothing whatsoever to do with what color they are- or where they come from.

To me it shows an sad and despicable lack of intelligence and vocabulary when a disagreement gets to that- because you cannot fix stupid.

I mean I am not the smartest person in the world, but at least I can speak and think.

Yet, it's alright to NOT want to vote for McCain simply because he's old...

Oops, I mean experienced.

I just think the majority worshiping the Chosen One really don't know he has intentions to go to Afghanistan. I know my mom wants him as POTUS, just because he wants out of Iraq (she's terrified my son will be drafted). She's just uninformed that he still wants war...just not to follow-through on this one.

Exactly, Em. I kind of felt like a kid on the playground after talking to her. I always get the feeling that her next words will be "I know you are, but what am I?". In her defense though, I seriously don't know where she's coming from with this. She's actually a very intelligent person. Like I said...it's scary...a brainwashed kind of scary. I think her bringing up the race card comes from her frustrations with ME not being swayed by her opinions and not necessarily because she believes I'm being racist...at least, I HOPE not. It IS interesting...I agree...and sad, too.
