Pretty darn cool. It just occured to me that your area might be crawling with stuff like that. Is it?

Yup...just about everywhere you turn there's something cool. It's pretty fun to live here. So, I had no idea what a stone fortification house was, so I did some research and I discovered this... apparently, it was the village Deacon's responsibility to build his home out of stone (or at least a portion of it) so that it could be used as a place of refuge for the townspeople in case of a hostile Indian attack. Awesome...

Too bad for Hubs...he was hoping it was a place for fortification of a different kind...a place to "fortify" oneself with alcohol. Ha! At least he didn't mention the other kind of house. You know, the kind of house where lots of activity that sounds pretty similar to fortification takes place.

Or a house in which broth is served. I believe that to be a soupery.

Or a HOstelry, where people stay.

That is indeed the coolest thing ever. You should get it.

Hahahahahaha...

Yeah, we're going back for another look tomorrow. I'm stressed out, though. I found another that I really like too, but the agent told me I had to look right away because someone else has been making offers. They haven't been accepted yet, but the person is pretty serious. I hate people. Why can't they just stay away from houses I like until I've decided which to buy. Stupid people...stressing me out like this.

Sometimes stuff needs to go wrong so it can go right. That's especially true with house hunting. My parents had a house just about stolen from under them. A couple of years later, the sleepy road by the front yard became a four lane highway.

Re: So, what did you think?

Thank you, Slugger. I try to think this way...it isn't always so easy. Hunh, now that you mention it, the real estate agent keeps stressing that, even though the lot isn't as big as the other house we like, the land abutting it will NEVER be built upon. She gave me a strange look when I mumbled, "Never say never". We've been around here long enough to know that things (and by "things" I mean zoning laws) change mighty quickly. I mean, we live on a peninsula (some would argue that it's an island). There's only so much they can do before they start digging into protected land. Yes...I try to keep saying to myself that whatever happens is for the best.

Oh...and I'll bet your parents were relieved. That must have been a huge "Phew" moment in their lives.

Speaking of your mom, Sluggar - how is she?

You really don't ever know which house is the right one for you. Until you really find it and buy it and live in it. You might need to poke your real estate agent with a pointy stick, or maybe a banana. Definitely put her in a comfy chair with PILLOWS!
